Peeled; Chapters 14-17

Pages 125-159

The town of Banesville is getting more and more uneasy about the Ludlow ghost. People are afraid to leave their houses, as well as the kids. All of this fear is bringing Hildy back to the time of her father's death, when she was always scared. She starts to miss him even more, again. Violence is starting up in the town because of people being more protective than before, and many are buying high end security devices as well. Residents are, also, getting angered at The Bee's coverage on stories. Hildy and Zack are becoming closer, it seems, as well. She informs Tanisha that he relationship status with Zack is complicated. Typical Hildy, BOY DRAMA!
Bonnie Sue Bomgartner is becoming more and more aggressive to be named Homecoming Queen. Lacey is sure to win because she is down to earth and actually cares about being true to herself. Bonnie just has too much money put into everything to win.
Hildy, finally, gets to talk with Lawrence Miner, Sallie Miner's father. They talked a little about what Sallie was like before and after she heard about the ghost and then hung up. Baker was happy about Hildy's work, and told her to write about it. Once it was put in the paper, kids started to read it!
Tanisha informs Hildy that they, both, aren't going to homecoming because of the weather and the early flu season. Hildy was at home with Elizabeth talking about homecoming. Elizabeth tells Hildy that Madame Zobek told her that Jackie is going to win Homecoming Queen. Hildy gets mad at her for believing a whacked woman and creates more tension in their relationship.

In Chapter 15, Hildy talks to Pinky Sandusky, a woman involved with the Elders Against Evil, who's been involved with watching the Ludlow property for any suspicious activity for three weeks. She informed her that she nor anyone else had seen anything suspicious there.
Hildy walks into Elizabeth's room, after she won't let her in herself. Hildy sees candles and money and Elizabeth's dresser. Elizabeth explains that Madame Zobek gave the candles to her at a discounted price of $100.00. The candles are for Elizabeth's mom's spirit to be set free so she could come to her. Hildy gets mad at her, yet again, for listening to Madame Zobek and, this time, involves her mom, Nan, and Felix (her father).
The next day, at school, the students find out who is named Homecoming Queen. It's not Jackie, it's...

Chapter 16 opens up to the Homecoming Dance. Hildy and her ex, Lev, dance to a rumba rhythm. After that, Hildy no longer has any feelings for Lev, and she asks Zack to dance. He accepts, even though Zack doesn't want to because he claimed to be a bad dancer.

In Chapter 17, the Mayor starts to reveal his plans of making Banesville a better place for everyone to live in. Hildy calls the Mayor's office to get more information, and is told that he will be issuing a statement later on. By this time, the Ludlow property is #1 on the most Haunted Houses of New York website. Tourists start to come to see the house.
Hildy calls D&B Security. She gets a hold of Donny Lupo's ex-wife. The Security business is no longer, but she still talks with Hildy for a couple of minutes. Hildy tries to get a hold of a guy connected with Donald's death, Martin. Neither she, nor Lonnie have the number. Hildy can't use any of the quotes because she forgot to ask for permission to quote her. Baker is disappointed by her lack of common sense.
Hildy, then, goes to the sheriff's office after school to tell Sheriff Metcalf that she might have a lead on Lupo's death. She tells him what she found out from Lonnie. Martin is now a huge real estate man in Boston!

I'm not totally sure what Martin being in Boston has to do with any of this, so we'll just have to wait and see until the next blog comes. Stay tuned!
